FRONT READS:

ORIGINALLY, IN MEDIEVAL EUROPE, IMPOVERISHED PEOPLE AND THEIR CHILDREN WOULD GO DOOR TO DOOR ON HALLOWMAS OR ALL SAINT’S DAY, ASKING FOR FOOD AND SOUL CAKES IN RETURN FOR SINGING SONGS AND SAYING PRAYERS TO THE DECEASED ON ALL SOULS DAY. THE EATING OF THE SOUL CAKE WOULD REPRESENT A SOUL FREED FROM PURGATORY.

THE ORIGINAL COSTUMES WERE REPRESENTATIONS OF EVIL SPIRITS AND SOMETIMES THE DECEASED PEOPLE THEY WERE HONORING. IT EVENTUALLY EVOLVED INTO RANDOM POP CULTURE REFERENCES, SLUTTY NURSES AND OTHER SLUTTY OCCUPATIONS WE SEE AS COSTUMES TODAY.

  • The Truthteller Line tells it like is. The Truthteller Line enjoys wearing authentic, historic costumes even when they do not make any sense to others. The Truthteller Line will bite directly into the candy apple, never nibbling pensively along the exterior. In that same tradition, Gobsmack'd Greetings thinks it is interesting that every 3rd costume now seems to be a slutty version of a real occupation. We long for the good old days when people dressed up as your dead relatives and went around asking for cake to free souls. And all on 100% PCW recycled paper.
